A revised version of the Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019 (the ���PDP Bill�۝) was recently tabled in the Lok Sabha on December 11, 2019. Its first draft was submitted by Justice B.N. Sri Krishna Committee pursuant to the Hon�۪ble Supreme Court of India�۪s judgment in Justice K.S. Puttaswamy v Union of India[1] (the ���Right to Privacy Judgment�۝), which directed the Government of India to formulate a law on data protection.

A recent decision of the Supreme Court of India has far reaching ramifications for arbitration law in the country. While the decision in the BGS Soma[1] case has seemingly set out the ���correct law�۝ concerning the venue and seat dichotomy which has been the subject matter of a high volume of contested litigation over the years, its clarity and efficacy may come undone due to issues touching on the law of precedent.

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, has recently notified the Companies (Meetings of Board and its Powers) Second Amendment Rules, 2019 (���Amendment�۝), through a notification dated November 18, 2019, for amendment of Rule 15 of the Companies (Meetings of Board and its Powers) Rules, 2019 (���Rules�۝), which provides for the conditions governing contractual arrangements by a company governed by the Companies Act, 2013 (���Act�۝) with a related party.
